The Limits of Incorporating Technology in Education

Education without a doubt holds a very important place in our lives. It is no longer just a medium to earn a qualification. It is a tool of survival in a world faster and more competitive than ever. So in this fast paced world, we should be capable of learning a lot in very less time. At SMES School, Mahim we accomplish this need with the help of technology which makes us the best CBSE school with modern education. But, is technology the ultimate tool to educate our children? Can we completely rely on technology for their all round development?

“Stick to the basics” might be a very clichéd line, but has an undeniable importance.  At SMES School Mahim, we strike a perfect balance between technology and traditional methods of education to make us one of the top CBSE schools in Mumbai. A balance is rather necessary. Like fire and water, technology is a good servant, but a bad master.
Let’s try to understand the reason why we don’t want to forsake the orthodox methods of education. We want our children to not lose human touch.
It is very important, as a person learns values like sharing, caring, equality, empathy etc. Honestly, homeschooling can be an effective solution. Technology enables us now to educate our children without the need of classroom.
Also, imagine a modern version of our good old Physical Training sessions. Children playing Cricket and Badminton over LAN connections in school computers. Do you think it’ll be as enjoyable as a group Hi-5 on the field? Yes is surely not an acceptable answer.

Technology has bright sides too. You can easily conclude by comparing the older times and the modern times that today owing to internet, we have a greater exposure to the career options available globally. The biggest advantage of technology is the access to an umpteen well of knowledge that introduces us to an entire catalogue of streams and choices that your child could perfectly fit in. This encourages the child to progress in the direction of his/her interests. For example, it’ll be a matter of pride if a child has multilingual talent and becomes a translator or an interpreter for the German language or may be even becomes an ambassador.

But it is really important for a person to celebrate his/her accomplishments with real people and not online through social media or anything of the same nature. Being the CBSE school with the best facilities, we highly encourage the practice of looking at the real world beyond the world of pixels.

We want the world to be a single big society unlike a billion individual confined spaces that we right now are. For more info, follow us on LinkedIn for regular updates.
